Solana (SOL) has recovered above the $65 mark following a sharp decline over the weekend that saw the token dip below $60. The broader cryptocurrency market is experiencing a relief rally, with Bitcoin also edging higher above $63,000. However, underlying signals suggest that the bearish pressure on Solana is far from over.
Institutional Demand Weakens
Spot Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) products recorded net outflows of approximately $6.52 million last week, breaking a four-week streak of positive inflows that began in early May. This reversal in institutional positioning raises concerns about near-term demand. Analysts caution that if outflows continue or accelerate, SOL could face additional downside risk.
Derivatives Market Signals Caution
Futures and perpetual swap markets are also flashing warning signs. According to CoinGlass, Solana's funding rate has turned negative and deepened to its lowest level since February, currently around -0.0165%. A negative funding rate indicates that short positions are paying long positions, a condition often associated with bearish sentiment. Historically, sustained negative funding rates have coincided with extended corrective phases after brief relief rallies.
On the other hand, Solana's long-to-short ratio has risen to 1.0129, suggesting that some traders are betting on further upside. This mixed data points to indecision among market participants following the bounce from Saturday's low of $59.
Technical Picture Remains Fragile
On the 4-hour chart, SOL/USD remains in a bearish configuration. At press time, Solana is trading at $66, well below key moving averages: the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $81.50, the 100-day EMA at $87.90, and the 200-day EMA at $104.00. This alignment confirms that the broader trend is still downward.
Momentum indicators are showing tentative signs of recovery. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains in negative territory, but the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has climbed to near 47, approaching the neutral zone. Last week's oversold conditions led to short-term rebounds, which could hint at potential reversal signals on lower timeframes.
Key Levels to Watch
If the bearish trend persists, immediate support lies at $60, a critical psychological and structural level. A breakdown below this zone could open the path toward $50, deepening the downtrend. Conversely, if the recovery continues, the first major resistance is around the 50-day EMA at $81.50. A daily close above that level could pave the way for a retest of higher resistance zones at $87.90 and $104.

Outlook
The current market conditions suggest a relief bounce rather than a sustained reversal. Continued ETF outflows and negative derivatives positioning indicate that sellers still maintain control unless Solana can reclaim key resistance levels in the coming sessions. Traders should monitor the $60 support and $81.50 resistance closely for directional cues.
