XRP is drawing renewed attention from traders as a familiar technical setup emerges on its long-term chart, while the token consolidates in a narrow range above key support levels. The digital asset was trading at $1.09 at press time, up 1.6% over the past seven days but down 0.7% in the last 24 hours.
Recurring pattern sparks breakout speculation
Technical analysts have highlighted a chart configuration that mirrors periods of extended consolidation before previous upward moves. One widely shared observation points to the weekly XRP dominance chart, where the MACD indicator has completed a reset similar to prior instances that preceded explosive rallies. While historical patterns do not guarantee future outcomes, they serve as a reference point for traders assessing potential direction.
The immediate resistance zone sits between $1.10 and $1.12, an area XRP has tested multiple times without a decisive breakout. On the downside, support at $1.08 remains intact, with a break below potentially exposing $1.05. A move above resistance would strengthen the bullish technical outlook.
Momentum indicators reflect a market awaiting a catalyst. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovers near 48, indicating neutral conditions with no overbought or oversold signals.
Network activity declines sharply
Despite the technical optimism, on-chain activity on the XRP Ledger has weakened considerably. Daily payments have fallen from approximately 1.694 million on May 28 to around 210,000 on July 20—a decline of more than 80% in under two months. Compared to the year's peak of 2.188 million daily payments in February, the drop is roughly 85%.
Total daily transactions have also slumped to about 1.129 million, down nearly 78% from the 2026 high of 5.172 million recorded on April 6. Active addresses participating as senders or receivers fell to approximately 123,986 on July 19, underscoring weaker network usage.
These figures indicate that while XRP's chart has become more technically interesting, on-chain utilization has yet to recover to earlier levels.
XRPL upgrade vote approaches
Developers and validators are preparing for the FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment vote, scheduled around July 29. The proposal focuses on maintenance and performance improvements rather than headline features, but it is part of a broader roadmap that includes batch transactions, confidential transfers, sponsored transaction fees, and permission delegation. Continued protocol development remains a key area for investors monitoring the XRPL ecosystem.
Institutional developments support long-term narrative
Beyond technicals and network data, Ripple continues to build enterprise relationships. Recent reports highlight engagement with major financial institutions such as Mastercard and JPMorgan as part of blockchain-based payment infrastructure expansion. However, institutional investment flows have been mixed, with XRP ETFs recording approximately $7.5 million in net outflows, reflecting cautious sentiment among larger investors.
For broader market context, traders are also watching Bitcoin's test of $65K resistance and Ethereum's potential breakout above its 100-day EMA, as these dynamics often influence altcoin sentiment.
