XRP held steady near $1.51 on Tuesday, extending its recovery from the year-to-date low of $0.9885, as the broader cryptocurrency market regained upward momentum. Bitcoin climbed past $80,000, Ethereum tested $2,500, and the total crypto market capitalization rose above $2.7 trillion, reflecting a renewed risk-on appetite among investors.

Extreme greed signals caution and opportunity

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, a widely watched sentiment gauge, has jumped to 83, placing it firmly in the "extreme greed" zone—its highest level in months. Historically, such readings have often coincided with strong short-term rallies, but they also tend to precede sharp corrections when sentiment becomes overheated. Investors should note that extreme greed has preceded several notable pullbacks in past cycles.

Bitcoin tops $80K but overbought RSI flags pullback risk
Bitcoin rallied over 25% in seven days to reclaim $80,000, but an overbought RSI and resistance near $81,500-$83,000 could spark a short-term correction.

Despite the elevated sentiment, the current rally is supported by tangible fundamentals. Spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have seen sustained inflows, with $13.8 million added on Monday following $18 million on Friday. Last week alone, these funds attracted over $39 million, bringing August inflows to roughly $57 million. Since their inception, spot XRP ETFs have accumulated more than $1.57 billion in net inflows and now manage approximately $1.44 billion in assets, with only one month of net outflows since approval.

RLUSD adoption accelerates on XRP Ledger

Beyond ETF demand, the XRP Ledger is gaining traction in the stablecoin sector. Data from DeFi Llama shows that stablecoin supply on the XRPL chain has surged past $1 billion, a significant jump from the year-to-date low of $240 million. Ripple USD (RLUSD) has crossed the $2 billion market cap milestone, with its presence on XRPL nearing $1 billion.

On-chain activity is also picking up. Daily active addresses on the XRP Ledger have risen to over 1,500, up from a low of 600 earlier this month. Transaction counts spiked to 140,000 on August 22, the highest level in months, indicating growing network usage and utility.

Technical analysis points to further upside

From a technical perspective, XRP's daily chart shows a falling wedge pattern—a classic bullish reversal signal—that preceded the recent rebound from $0.9885 to a high of $1.6930. The token remains above its 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages (EMAs), suggesting that bulls maintain control. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has entered overbought territory, which could lead to short-term consolidation, but the overall structure remains constructive.

XRP is currently forming a bullish flag pattern, a continuation setup that often resolves upward. If the price breaks above the immediate resistance at $1.6930, the next target could be the psychological $2.00 level. However, a failure to hold above the 50-day EMA could invalidate the bullish thesis and lead to a retest of lower supports.

Investors should keep an eye on broader market sentiment, as the fear and greed index has historically been a contrarian indicator at extremes. Additionally, the ongoing strength in equity markets and the performance of Asian tech indices could influence crypto sentiment in the near term.
