Pi Network's native token, PI, has rallied more than 11% in the past 24 hours, trading around $0.094, as a new payment partnership and an upcoming network upgrade bolster market sentiment. The token's weekly gain now stands at nearly 14%, according to CoinGecko data.
The recent surge follows a period of consolidation between $0.082 and $0.086, with PI breaking above that range to touch its highest level in nearly two weeks. The move has brought the token to a critical juncture, testing resistance near the psychological $0.10 level.
RoboPay integration adds utility
A key catalyst is the announcement that Pi Network has joined RoboPay as an official payment partner. RoboPay, built on the Fabric network, is a payment execution protocol designed for autonomous robots and AI-powered hardware running OpenMind's physical intelligence stack. According to the Fabric Foundation, developers can define execution conditions and pricing for physical tasks, enabling payment-authorized requests to trigger robotic actions and return structured completion results.
Potential use cases include autonomous deliveries, industrial inspections, security patrols, and interactions with humanoid assistants. While these are presented as intended applications rather than fully operational services, the integration opens a new avenue for PI utility beyond its existing ecosystem.
Whether this translates into higher transaction volume depends on the adoption of RoboPay services and the actual settlement of payments in PI. The foundation stated that "Pi will be used to pay for robot services across the Fabric network," but the long-term impact remains to be seen.
Protocol 26 upgrade ahead
Adding to the positive sentiment, Pi Core Team has instructed node operators to install Protocol 26.1 via the Pi Node software before August 11. Nodes that fail to update risk losing connection to the Mainnet consensus. Protocol 26 is the ninth network upgrade in Pi Network's 2026 roadmap and is described as the final prerequisite before Protocol 27.0, the last planned upgrade in the current development cycle.
The upgrade aims to improve state management, smart contract security, cross-network interoperability, and database migrations. It also builds on cryptographic features introduced in Protocol 25, including BN254 elliptic curve cryptography and Poseidon hashing, which provide the technical foundation for zero-knowledge applications and decentralized exchange liquidity pools on the Pi Mainnet.
While these technical developments support market sentiment, they do not guarantee higher demand for PI. The long-term effect will depend on developer activity and user engagement across the ecosystem. The August 11 deadline is a key event traders are monitoring, as participation levels could influence short-term volatility.
Technical analysis: PI approaches $0.10
On the 4-hour chart, PI has broken above the middle Bollinger Band (near $0.0855) and briefly traded above the upper band (around $0.0926) before stabilizing near $0.094. This indicates accelerating momentum and expanding volatility. Volume has increased during the breakout, and the On-Balance Volume (OBV) indicator has turned upward after a prolonged decline, suggesting stronger buying activity.
The daily chart shows PI recovering above its 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $0.0877, with the 50-day EMA near $0.1004 acting as the next major resistance. The 100-day EMA remains higher at $0.1207, indicating the longer-term trend has not fully reversed.
PI has reclaimed several Fibonacci retracement levels from the recent swing low near $0.073, now testing the 0.786 level at $0.0973. A sustained close above that would bring the $0.10 psychological level within reach. Since the 50-day EMA sits almost exactly at $0.1004, the token faces a cluster of resistance in that area.
If buyers clear both levels with continued volume, the next upside target is the 1.618 Fibonacci extension at approximately $0.123, where another layer of resistance converges with the longer-term moving average structure. On the downside, failure to hold the current breakout could see PI retreat to the $0.090-$0.088 region, where the reclaimed moving average and nearby Fibonacci levels may offer support. A deeper pullback could expose the Bollinger Band midline near $0.0855.
For context, other digital assets have also seen notable moves recently, such as Algorand's rally on payment innovations and XRP's approach to $1.10. Meanwhile, Pi Network's earlier gains were tied to ISO registration and protocol upgrades, and BNB's derivatives data has also turned bullish.
