Pudgy Penguins' native token, PENGU, has climbed more than 17% in the past 24 hours, trading near $0.0096 on Aug. 24. Daily trading volume has surged past $400 million, pushing the token toward the psychologically significant $0.01 threshold.

According to CoinGecko, PENGU is up 59.5% over the past week and 58.6% over the past month, accelerating from around $0.006 earlier this week. The rally has been fueled by speculation about a potential initial public offering (IPO) from Pudgy Penguins, as well as fresh trading incentives from exchanges.

IPO speculation and exchange incentives

Pudgy Penguins CEO Luca Netz stated in August 2025 that he aims for the company to go public by 2027, contingent on continued revenue growth. While no formal IPO has been announced, these comments have resurfaced across crypto social media as PENGU approaches $0.01, with traders circulating bullish calls alongside the potential listing.

Adding to the momentum, LBank launched a $500,000 Pudgy Penguins campaign earlier this month, featuring trading rewards, futures competitions, and a PENGU Locked Earn product offering a 10% fixed yield. A referral promotion running from Aug. 20 to Aug. 27 has kept exchange incentives active during the price surge.

Technical breakout and market activity

PENGU broke above a descending resistance structure last week, triggering a wave of short liquidations. On Aug. 21, short positions accounted for approximately $842,000 of the $999,000 in total PENGU liquidations over 24 hours, forcing bearish traders to cover as the token moved higher.

Volume has remained elevated since the breakout, with 24-hour turnover near $400 million early on Aug. 24 and later exceeding that level. The token tested the $0.01 area, briefly moving above it before pulling back.

Brand expansion and NFT activity

Beyond the token, Pudgy Penguins' physical products have expanded. Plush toys are now available in more than 1,800 Target stores across the U.S., following the introduction of trading cards at the retailer. In the NFT market, Pudgy Penguins sales have risen approximately 244% week-over-week, coinciding with renewed interest in PENGU and the project's physical offerings.

Price levels to watch

On the 4-hour chart, PENGU's rally has pushed price toward the upper boundary of its Keltner Channel, which sits near $0.00975. A 4-hour close above this level, followed by a sustained break of $0.01, would keep the breakout intact. The next resistance is around $0.0104, with a supply zone between $0.0105 and $0.011 from the April-May trading range on the daily chart. Clearing that zone could open the door to the May high near $0.0118-0.012.

However, the move has become extended. The Keltner Channel's middle band is around $0.00860, well below the current price. A rejection from $0.01 could send PENGU back toward $0.009 before testing the $0.0086 area. Volume Profile Visible Range data shows the heaviest historical trading activity is concentrated around $0.0060-0.0064, where PENGU spent much of late July and the first half of August. With relatively less volume between that zone and current levels, $0.0086 becomes a key first support if momentum fades.

Daily trend strength remains bullish, with the Directional Movement Index showing a positive directional line near 39.97 versus 4.69 for the negative line. The Average Directional Index (ADX) has risen to around 32.34, above the 25 threshold that indicates an established trend. Daily volume increased sharply as PENGU broke through $0.007, $0.008, and $0.009, with the heaviest activity during the breakout.

For bulls, the immediate hurdle is $0.00975-0.01. A confirmed move through it would expose $0.0104, followed by $0.0105-0.011 and potentially $0.0118-0.012. If the breakout fails, $0.009 is the first support, then the 4-hour Keltner midpoint near $0.0086. A deeper correction could bring $0.00745, around the lower Keltner boundary, before the high-volume base at $0.0060-0.0064 becomes relevant again.
