XRP declined 3.4% on Friday, slipping below the critical $1.24 support level, as a major security breach at Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, triggered a broad market sell-off. The token's drop came despite Ripple's optimistic business projections, which failed to reassure investors amid heightened risk aversion.

Ripple's Growth Outlook

Ripple announced it is approaching a $900 million annualized product revenue run rate by the end of 2026, a metric that reflects revenue at an annualized pace rather than total earnings. The company also expects its payments network to process $150 billion in cumulative transaction volume by that time, supporting international transfers across more than 60 payout markets.

Bitcoin slid under $77,000 after Binance flagged a potential security issue, triggering $1.49B in leveraged crypto liquidations. Bulls absorbed most losses as key support levels come into focus.

CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted the convergence of traditional and digital finance, stating that market infrastructure is migrating to modern rails, with settlement moving to real-time, 24/7, and tokenized assets becoming tradable and usable as collateral. Ripple claims over 1,700 institutions and enterprises use its infrastructure for payments, custody, stablecoins, and treasury management.

RLUSD Stablecoin Growth

Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, has reached approximately $2.6 billion in market capitalization, representing more than 88% growth year-to-date. The company integrates RLUSD across its product suite, including payment settlement and onchain markets, positioning it as a digital dollar for enterprise clients.

This expansion has raised questions about whether businesses using RLUSD still need XRP. Garlinghouse dismissed such concerns, emphasizing that XRP remains central to Ripple's operations. He described RLUSD as complementary, providing an entry point into digital asset infrastructure, while XRP serves as a bridge asset for cross-currency transactions.

Binance Security Incident

The broader cryptocurrency market faced significant pressure after Binance disclosed a security incident on Friday. The exchange's preliminary investigation indicated that a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop may have allowed attackers to access an internal service and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. Binance estimated the impact at approximately $6.3 billion, though the final amount stolen and recoverable assets remain uncertain.

Binance said it had worked with blockchain partners to freeze around $3 billion in affected assets and pledged to cover losses through its SAFU fund and company resources. Deposits and withdrawals were temporarily suspended during security checks, but the exchange maintained that customer funds were safe. Co-founder Changpeng Zhao reassured users on X, stating, "User funds are safe! It does look like a hack on Binance."

Technical Analysis

XRP's daily chart remains bearish, with the token trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and 100-day exponential moving averages, which now act as overhead resistance. The Relative Strength Index sits near 38, indicating weak momentum, while the Stochastic Oscillator's two lines hover around 30 and 29, reflecting continued selling pressure. Both indicators remain above the oversold threshold of 20, suggesting that bearish momentum may not be exhausted.

With the $1.24 support broken, immediate support now lies at $1.16. A sustained break below that level could open the door to $1.04, followed by a more distant floor around $0.98. Conversely, if the daily candle closes back above the $1.24 level, XRP could rally toward the EMA cluster between $1.33 and $1.35, with further resistance at $1.37, $1.48, and $1.66.

The combination of a major exchange breach and deteriorating technical indicators suggests that XRP's near-term outlook remains fragile, with investors closely monitoring support levels and any further developments from Binance's investigation.
