XRP is hovering around $1.25 on Tuesday, but a tepid rebound has done little to erase the technical damage from October's 16% decline. The token slipped 0.76% in the last 24 hours, recovering only modestly from a recent dip toward $1.20.
Despite the stabilization, XRP remains below all major daily exponential moving averages (EMAs), and its relative strength index (RSI) sits near 37, indicating weak buying momentum. The 20-day EMA is at $1.31, the 50-day at $1.34, the 100-day at $1.33, and the 200-day at $1.37—all above the current price, underscoring that sellers maintain control.
A bearish crossover has formed as the 50-day EMA slipped below the 200-day EMA, a pattern often referred to as a death cross. This EMA-based signal, distinct from a simple moving average crossover, adds to the negative outlook. The MACD indicator also remains in negative territory, confirming the lack of bullish momentum.
Support Levels and Forced Selling Risks
The immediate support zone lies between $1.23 and $1.24, which has contained recent losses. If sellers push through this level, traders will likely watch $1.20, where buyers emerged after the late-October retreat. A sustained daily close below $1.20 would expose the lower boundary of a descending price channel near $1.10, representing roughly 12% further downside from current levels.
Leveraged positioning could amplify any breakdown. Crypto analyst CryptoinsightUK noted that open interest rose 6.7% even as XRP's price edged 0.15% lower. Positive funding rates indicate traders are paying to hold long positions, and a sharp price drop could trigger automatic liquidations, adding selling pressure to an already fragile market.
Key Levels for Bulls and Volatility Signals
For XRP bulls, reclaiming $1.27 is the first hurdle. Beyond that, the $1.30–$1.31 area combines descending-channel resistance with the 20-day EMA, making it a critical test for any rebound. Sustained strength above that barrier could open the door to $1.34 and then $1.36–$1.37. Repeated failures, however, would reinforce the bearish trend.
Analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that XRP's four-hour Bollinger Bands have narrowed to their tightest since August, signaling potential volatility. He views a four-hour close above $1.27 as bullish and below $1.23 as bearish, though the compression alone does not indicate direction.
On the positive side, US spot XRP exchange-traded funds reportedly attracted $18.83 million in October despite the token's decline, suggesting some institutional interest. However, this inflow has not been enough to offset the broader technical weakness.
Historical context adds to the caution: crypto analyst EGRAG Crypto observed that October's 16% slide ranked among XRP's four worst October performances since 2013, and seven of the 13 completed Novembers through 2025 ended lower.
