Okta Inc. (NASDAQ: OKTA) shares surged to a fresh year-to-date high on Thursday after the identity security company delivered a robust fiscal second-quarter report and lifted its full-year outlook. The upbeat results prompted a wave of bullish analyst commentary, with RBC Capital Markets raising its price target to $195 and Citizens JMP lifting its target to $180 per share.

The price target revisions suggest Wall Street sees more upside beyond the immediate post-earnings pop, even though the stock has already roughly doubled since the start of the fiscal year. The company's performance underscores a broadening demand for its identity platform, particularly as enterprises grapple with the security implications of artificial intelligence.

Bookings strength drives optimism

While Okta's headline revenue beat was notable, the more significant metric was the acceleration in current remaining performance obligations (cRPO), which rose approximately 14% year-over-year to $2.56 billion. RBC specifically highlighted this acceleration and record bookings as key reasons for the increased price target.

Revenue for the quarter climbed 11% to $805 million, while adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.05, both comfortably above consensus estimates. Management attributed the bookings strength to larger enterprise deals, improved sales execution, and growing adoption of newer products.

New products accounted for roughly 30% of second-quarter bookings, with Identity Governance leading the way. Notably, deals involving new products generate an average 40% increase in annual contract value, indicating that the opportunity extends beyond winning new clients to expanding the value of existing relationships.

AI as a catalyst

Okta is positioning itself as a neutral identity layer for the AI era, where sophisticated AI agents increasingly access applications, data, and systems. The company launched products designed to secure and govern AI agents, including Agent Gateway, which enforces policies at runtime across multiple platforms.

Management said Okta won dozens of AI-related deals in the quarter, including a multimillion-dollar agreement with a Fortune 50 healthcare company. The acquisition of Permiso Security, announced in July, is expected to bolster Okta's ability to detect and respond to identity threats involving human, non-human, and agentic identities.

Analysts see AI as a potential catalyst not only for a new product category but also for broader identity modernization. Conversations that begin around securing AI are increasingly expanding into wider identity projects, giving Okta more opportunities to cross-sell its existing platform.

Raised guidance and outlook

Okta raised its fiscal 2027 guidance across key metrics. The company now expects full-year revenue of $3.216 billion to $3.226 billion, adjusted EPS of $3.90 to $3.94, and free cash flow of at least $910 million.

Citizens JMP's decision to raise its target to $180 reflects its view that the quarter established a credible path toward durable growth reacceleration. The firm expects continued cRPO acceleration, evidence that new products can sustain higher contract values, further enterprise wins, and tangible monetization of AI-agent security to drive the stock higher.

Okta's ability to convert these opportunities into faster revenue growth while maintaining strong cash generation will determine whether the stock can sustain its latest breakout toward the $180-$195 analyst targets. For investors, the company's performance in the coming quarters will be key to validating the bullish thesis.
