Cardano's ADA is trading lower on Wednesday after its recent recovery stalled at the $0.20 resistance level. The token had gained roughly 25% during its rebound, including a 14% jump last week, but momentum has faded as traders reassess the outlook.

IBC integration fails to sustain buying pressure

The launch of Cardano's Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) connection with Injective on Monday was expected to boost sentiment, but the price action suggests a classic 'buy the rumor, sell the news' reaction. Despite the integration being a positive development for interoperability, ADA's price reversed after peaking at $0.20 on Tuesday, a level that has held since July 4.

Bitcoin's $64,650 Test: A Pivotal Moment for the Recovery
Bitcoin approaches the $64,650 resistance level, with ETF inflows and geopolitical optimism supporting the recovery. A decisive break could open the path to higher targets.

Derivatives data points to weakening speculative interest. According to CoinGlass, ADA futures open interest fell by approximately 6.5% over the past 24 hours to $505 million, indicating that traders are reducing their positions. Additionally, the open interest-weighted funding rate has turned negative at -0.0026%, meaning short sellers are now paying longs, a sign that bearish bets are gaining traction.

Technical indicators suggest a potential pullback

ADA is currently edging toward $0.19, extending its decline after forming a Gravestone Doji candlestick near $0.20 on Tuesday. This pattern often signals a bearish reversal after an uptrend, as buyers failed to hold higher prices. Despite this, the short-term structure remains bullish as long as ADA trades above its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $0.1761.

However, the broader trend is still bearish, with ADA trading well below its 200-day EMA at $0.2598. The rejection at $0.20 increases the likelihood of a correction toward the 50-day EMA. If ADA closes decisively below that level, selling pressure could intensify, potentially driving the price toward the June 25 low of $0.1382, which would be the next major downside target.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has retreated from near-overbought levels to around 63, still above the neutral 50 mark, indicating that bullish momentum has not completely vanished. Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and its signal line continue to trend upward above the zero line, suggesting that the recent bullish momentum remains present despite the risk of a short-term correction.

For ADA to extend its recovery, buyers need to secure a sustained daily close above the $0.20 resistance. A successful breakout could invalidate the immediate bearish outlook and open the path toward the 200-day EMA at $0.2598, which represents the next significant resistance zone. Until then, ADA remains vulnerable to a pullback toward $0.1761 as derivatives demand weakens and short exposure increases.

Investors are also watching broader market cues, as similar patterns have emerged in other assets. For instance, Ethereum's recent dip highlights how weakening retail demand can lead to deeper corrections. Meanwhile, whale accumulation had previously supported ADA's rally, but that momentum appears to have stalled.

As the market digests these signals, traders are also monitoring Bitcoin's price action, which often sets the tone for the broader crypto market. A continued slide in BTC could exacerbate selling pressure on ADA and other altcoins.
