Solana is holding steady around the $100 mark after a 3% gain earlier in the week, with the token trading near $101 on Tuesday. The consolidation comes as institutional interest remains robust, with Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recording $11.01 million in net inflows on Monday, extending an 11-week streak of positive flows.

Network fundamentals are also showing improvement. According to Blockworks data, Solana generated $45.35 million in network revenue last week, up from $32 million the prior week. Real economic value, which includes transaction fees and out-of-protocol tips, rose to $6.33 million from $5.36 million. Transaction activity climbed to 1.07 million from 966,862, indicating stronger demand for blockspace.

Technical Setup Points to Potential Breakout

On the four-hour chart, SOL is forming a symmetrical triangle, with immediate resistance near $104.82. A confirmed breakout above this level could open the door to a move toward $123, with the $150 target in focus if momentum builds. Support sits at $100.71 and $98, with the 200-period EMA at $96.06 providing a longer-term floor.

Momentum indicators are neutral to slightly bullish. The RSI is near 51, while the MACD is marginally above its signal line and approaching the zero level. The 78.6% Fibonacci retracement at $101.51 adds near-term support.

ETF Inflows and Institutional Confidence

The sustained ETF inflows—$14.62 million in July and $193.54 million in August—underscore growing institutional confidence despite the price consolidation. This trend aligns with broader interest in digital assets, as seen in bitcoin's recent price action and ethereum's futures activity.

Network Upgrade Expands Capabilities

Solana's recently activated SIMD-0385 upgrade introduced the Transaction V1 format, increasing the maximum transaction size to 4,096 bytes. This allows developers to include more instructions, signatures, and data in a single transaction, potentially enabling zero-knowledge privacy features and more complex routing. According to Solana Foundation VP of Technology Jacob Creech, the upgrade expands the design space for all applications on the network.

Memecoin Activity Returns

Speculative activity is picking up on Solana's memecoin ecosystem. Pump.fun, a leading token-launch platform, recorded approximately 34,184 new token launches on September 10, capturing about 85% of all tracked launches that day. The platform's gross protocol revenue for Q3 has already reached $89 million, surpassing the $79 million generated in all of Q2, according to DefiLlama.

This resurgence in token creation and trading activity could generate additional transactions and fees, further strengthening the network's fundamentals. However, memecoin activity is highly volatile and can reverse quickly if sentiment shifts.

Outlook

Solana's combination of strong ETF inflows, improving network metrics, and a bullish technical pattern suggests a constructive outlook. A breakout above $110 could confirm the bullish case, while a failure to hold $100 might lead to a retest of lower supports. As always, traders should monitor key levels and market conditions.
