Palantir Technologies (PLTR) has been on a remarkable run, with shares climbing approximately 80% from their July low and now trading near their all-time high. The stock recently touched $191, its highest level since late December, as momentum from the summer rally continues to build. Investors are now watching to see whether the stock can break through its previous record and reach new highs, or if the rally will stall.
Revenue Growth Accelerates
The recent surge in Palantir's stock price is underpinned by accelerating revenue growth. In the second quarter, the company reported revenue of $1.93 billion, a 93% increase year-over-year. U.S. commercial revenue jumped 149%, while government revenue grew 90%. The company closed 220 deals worth at least $1 million annually, and 73 deals exceeding $10 million, indicating robust demand for its AI-driven software solutions.
Profitability has also improved significantly. Net income reached $1.06 billion, representing a 55% margin, while adjusted free cash flow rose to $1.22 billion, a 63% margin. These figures highlight Palantir's ability to convert its growth into substantial profits.
Analyst Optimism and Price Targets
Wall Street remains largely bullish on Palantir despite its elevated valuation. According to Kyro data, 18 analysts rate the stock a buy, 10 have a hold, and only two recommend selling. Notable price targets include $225 from Rosenblatt's John McPeake, and $250 from both UBS and DA Davidson. Other bullish firms include Mizuho, Citigroup, and Cantor Fitzgerald.
Analysts justify the high valuations by pointing to Palantir's strong growth and its Rule-of-40 metric, which combines revenue growth and profit margins. The company's Rule-of-40 multiple exceeds 130%, well above the 40% threshold considered healthy for software companies.
Technical Outlook
From a technical perspective, Palantir's stock has broken through key resistance levels. After bottoming at $107 in July, the stock has climbed above its previous high of $165, confirming a bullish trend. The shares remain above the 50-day moving average, and momentum oscillators are trending upward. The next major target is the $207 level, which was the stock's peak in November of last year.
However, some caution is warranted. The stock's rapid ascent has left it vulnerable to profit-taking, and valuation concerns persist. A pullback could occur if the broader market or tech sector experiences a downturn.
Future Growth Prospects
Looking ahead, analysts expect Palantir's revenue to continue growing at a rapid pace. The average estimate for the current quarter is $2.18 billion, an 84% increase from the prior year. For the full year, revenue is projected to reach $8.19 billion, up 83%, with further growth to $12.2 billion next year. Given Palantir's history of beating estimates, actual results could be even higher.
The company's expansion into new markets, such as sovereign AI for supply chains, and partnerships with major players like Nvidia, could provide additional tailwinds. As AI adoption accelerates across industries, Palantir is well-positioned to benefit.
