Palantir Technologies (PLTR) saw its shares climb approximately 3% on Wednesday, buoyed by a fresh endorsement from Rosenblatt Securities and news of a significant government deployment of its artificial intelligence technology. The stock's upward move comes amid a mix of bullish analyst commentary and notable bearish positioning from a prominent investor.

Rosenblatt Reiterates Buy on FAA Deployment

Rosenblatt Securities maintained its Buy rating and $225 price target on Palantir, pointing to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) recent launch of an AI-powered system built on the company's technology. The FAA introduced its Strategic Management of Airspace, Routes, and Trajectories (SMART) system on Monday to manage flight operations at three major Washington-area airports. This marks the first live U.S. deployment of the technology, according to the firm.

Morgan Stanley reiterated its $300 price target on SpaceX, implying 85% upside, as Starship reusability and Starlink V3 deployments could transform launch economics.

In a research note, Rosenblatt stated that the rollout "highlights the FAA opportunity for Palantir" and serves as validation of the company's government AI capabilities. The firm's analysts view this as a further example of Palantir's technology being applied in operational, real-world settings, reinforcing their confidence in the company's growth trajectory.

Foundry Platform Expands into Food Safety

Investor attention also turned to a separate Palantir deployment involving Chipotle Mexican Grill. Chipotle is piloting a Food Safety Risk Management Platform built on Palantir's Foundry software. The platform aggregates restaurant-level data, including health department inspection scores, pest incidents, and employee illness reports, to assign a food safety risk score to individual locations.

This pilot underscores the versatility of Palantir's Foundry platform, extending its use into consumer-facing industries. Together with the FAA deployment, it illustrates how Palantir's Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) are being adopted across both government and enterprise clients, broadening the company's addressable market.

Burry Adds to Bearish Palantir Position

While Rosenblatt maintained a bullish stance, investor Michael Burry has taken a contrasting view. In a September 22 Substack post, Burry revealed that he had added to his short positions in Palantir, Micron Technology, Nebius Group, and the iShares Semiconductor ETF. He described the additions as made "in some size," expressing skepticism about the durability of the current semiconductor and AI boom.

Burry also disclosed new positions in QXO, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Sprouts Farmers Market, Birkenstock Holding, and MercadoLibre, noting that these stocks had "corrected tremendously" and that he found their prices "rather attractive." His bearish stance on Palantir aligns with his broader concerns about the AI sector's valuation, as he highlighted comments from Acer CEO Jason Chen regarding memory supply. Chen noted that while some components like LPDDR5 and DDR5 9600 remain in shortage, DDR4 faces oversupply, a dynamic Burry said "aligns" with his own market view.

The contrasting perspectives from Rosenblatt and Burry highlight the ongoing debate over Palantir's valuation and growth prospects. The company's expanding government and enterprise deployments provide tangible evidence of its technology's utility, but concerns about the sustainability of the AI rally persist among some investors.

As Palantir continues to secure high-profile contracts and expand its platform across industries, the market remains divided on whether the stock's current valuation is justified. Wednesday's gain reflects optimism about the FAA and Chipotle developments, but the presence of a well-known short seller adds a layer of uncertainty for investors.
