BitMine Immersion (NYSE: BMNR) shares rallied sharply on Thursday, reaching $20.85, the highest level since mid-May, as Ethereum's price surged past the key $2,000 resistance level. The stock has climbed more than 60% from its year-to-date low of $12.54, buoyed by renewed risk appetite in the crypto market.
Ethereum (ETH) jumped to $2,330, its strongest point since May 11, representing a 50% recovery from its 2026 trough. The rebound comes as the Crypto Fear and Greed Index improved from an extreme fear reading of 17 to a neutral 52, signaling a shift toward risk-on sentiment among digital asset investors.
ETF inflows and market momentum
Demand for spot Ethereum ETFs has been a key driver. Data shows net inflows of $189 million on Wednesday, up sharply from $71 million on Tuesday and $30 million the day before. Monthly inflows have reached $534 million, compared with $365 million in the prior month. Cumulative ETF inflows now exceed $11.75 billion, with total net assets around $12 billion. These flows underscore growing institutional interest in Ethereum, which directly benefits BitMine as the largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.
Approaching an inflection point
BitMine is nearing a critical juncture as it approaches its 5% Ethereum accumulation target. The company currently holds 5,815,164 ETH, acquired at an average price of $1,893 per coin, according to its latest update. Over the past 30 days, it purchased 37,696 ETH, leaving roughly 185,000 coins to reach the target.
Once accumulation is complete, BitMine is expected to shift its focus to Ethereum staking, which yields approximately 2.9% annually. If the company stakes its entire holdings, it could generate over $423 million in annual revenue at current prices. Management has indicated these funds would be used for dividends, share buybacks, and strategic investments, marking a transition from a dilutive capital-raising phase to a cash-generative model.
Another potential catalyst is BitMine's stake in Eightco, which provides indirect exposure to OpenAI, adding a growth angle beyond its core crypto operations.
Technical outlook
From a technical perspective, BMNR has been trading within an ascending channel since its March low. The stock recently broke above the $17.50 resistance level, which was a swing low from February, and has moved decisively above its 50-day moving average. Analysts see the next key resistance at $25, while a drop below the channel's lower boundary would invalidate the bullish setup.
As Ethereum's momentum builds and BitMine completes its accumulation phase, the company appears well-positioned to capitalize on the current crypto upcycle. However, investors should remain mindful of the inherent volatility in digital asset markets.
