Hong Kong-based non-custodial crypto SuperApp Sumex has announced the reopening of a limited number of OG and Early Bird community roles following a comprehensive cleanup of inactive users, duplicate registrations, and Sybil accounts. The decision, approved by the community, aims to preserve the exclusivity of the original allocation while offering genuine new members a chance to join the platform's founding community.
Cleanup and Reallocation
Sumex's original allocation of 5,000 OG Roles and 15,000 Early Bird Roles was fully claimed within 72 hours of the platform's public launch, reflecting strong early demand. Rather than increasing the total supply, the company chose to return reclaimed roles to the community. The cleanup removed accounts that were inactive, duplicated, or identified as Sybil (fake or bot-controlled), ensuring that the roles remain reserved for genuine participants.
“We designed these roles to recognize genuine early adopters who actively contribute to the Sumex ecosystem,” the Sumex team stated. “Following the community-approved cleanup, we're pleased to give new members another opportunity to become part of that founding community while preserving the exclusivity of the original allocation.”
More Than a Badge
Unlike traditional community roles that primarily offer recognition within Discord or Telegram, Sumex roles are integrated directly into the platform's broader ecosystem. They contribute to long-term progression, ecosystem participation, and future platform initiatives, making them more than cosmetic status indicators. The reopening provides new users with access to one of the earliest participation groups within the growing Sumex ecosystem.
Solving Crypto Fragmentation
Sumex was created to address the fragmentation problem in the digital asset industry, where users often manage assets across multiple centralized exchanges, self-custody wallets, DeFi protocols, and blockchain ecosystems. The platform's proprietary Connection Manager allows users to link exchange accounts, wallets, and social identities into a single profile, creating a unified crypto identity. This enables a comprehensive view of the entire crypto portfolio, regardless of where assets are held.
Beyond portfolio visibility, Sumex provides direct access to trading, cross-chain swaps, staking, yield farming, and other investment opportunities through a single interface. The platform's Rewards Hub allows projects to engage users based on genuine ecosystem activity rather than disconnected social interactions, rewarding on-chain interactions, trading activity, and protocol usage.
Limited Availability
The reclaimed OG and Early Bird roles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the allocation is claimed, no additional roles are expected to become available unless further inactive or fraudulent accounts are removed in future community reviews. Interested users are encouraged to create a Sumex account and complete the onboarding process as early as possible.
