Performa, a finance operations platform tailored for digital-native small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has announced a significant platform upgrade to mark its first year in operation. The update expands the company's scope from digital asset payments and OTC access to a broader infrastructure layer, enabling businesses to manage payments, settlements, payouts, and treasury flows from a single workspace.
New capabilities and onboarding
The upgraded platform introduces a faster self-service onboarding process. Companies can now register directly on the Performa website, complete a simplified first-level verification, connect their wallet, and immediately access entry-level features such as invoicing and payment links. As businesses grow, they can undergo full Know Your Business (KYB) verification to unlock higher transaction limits and the complete suite of custodial services.
One of the key additions is support for both custodial and non-custodial workflows. Users can connect their own Web3 wallet in minutes and begin monitoring transactions, creating payment links, and managing invoices without transferring funds into Performa's custody. Full platform access—including fiat settlement, mass payouts, OTC trading, and API integrations—becomes available after KYB verification.
Core services and global reach
Performa's core offerings now encompass receiving payments (custodial and non-custodial digital asset acceptance, payment links, invoices), sending payments (bulk payouts via CSV to teams, contractors, vendors, and partners), exchanging (fiat on/off-ramp and structured access to vetted OTC partners), and managing finances (wallet monitoring and treasury visibility through one dashboard).
The platform supports over 100 digital currencies, funding in USDT or more than 20 fiat currencies via SWIFT/SEPA, payouts to 170+ countries, and local withdrawals in 140+ countries. Performa is also revamping its pricing model, offering flexible, task-based fees tailored to different business needs, with custom terms for high-volume clients.
Market context
The upgrade arrives as cross-border payments become a growing pain point for SMBs. According to Visa research, 75% of SMBs expect their cross-border payment volumes to increase over the next 12 months. However, 32% cite high fees or opaque FX costs, manual reconciliation struggles, and a lack of visibility across systems as major challenges. Performa aims to address these issues by consolidating digital asset and fiat operations into a single, transparent platform.
This move aligns with broader trends in the fintech and digital asset space. For instance, lowering entry barriers to digital asset accumulation has been a key theme, and Performa's non-custodial option similarly reduces friction for businesses. Additionally, the expansion of digital asset infrastructure, as seen with platforms like Spreadefi reaching 12,000 users, underscores the growing demand for such services.
Outlook
Performa's upgrade positions it to capture a larger share of the SMB market that increasingly operates at the intersection of fiat and digital currencies. By offering both custodial and non-custodial options, the platform provides flexibility that many competitors lack. The company's focus on simplifying onboarding and expanding global reach could help it stand out in a crowded field.
As the digital asset ecosystem matures, tools that streamline financial operations for businesses are likely to gain traction. Performa's one-year milestone and this substantial upgrade signal its commitment to evolving alongside the needs of digital-native SMBs.
