LiquidAcre, a fintech company focused on expanding access to real-world assets, has selected Uphold as its infrastructure provider for on-chain finance. The partnership will enable LiquidAcre to offer trading, custody, KYC, and funding services for its upcoming tokenized real estate offerings.

The collaboration marks a significant step in LiquidAcre's mission to modernize how individuals access and manage real-world and digital assets. The company plans to launch a two-phase ecosystem, starting with the LiquidAcre Wallet, a secure digital gateway for users to manage digital assets and financial tools. The second phase will introduce the LiquidAcre Marketplace, where eligible users can participate in tokenized real estate and other real-world assets.

Mortgage Stocks Tumble as 30-Year Rates Hit 7.49%, Analysts See 9%
Shares of major mortgage lenders are falling sharply as US mortgage rates climb to multi-year highs, with analysts forecasting further increases. Higher rates are squeezing home affordability and refinancing activity.

Wes Watkins, CEO and Co-Founder of LiquidAcre, emphasized the potential of blockchain technology to address liquidity and access challenges in real estate. "Real estate represents one of the world's largest asset classes, yet access and liquidity remain significant challenges," he said. "We believe blockchain technology and regulated digital structures have the potential to create more efficient ways for people to participate in real-world assets."

Uphold's platform-as-a-service will provide a comprehensive set of processes, including compliance and KYC measures, to facilitate digital asset custody, fiat and stablecoin funding, settlement, and conversion between traditional currencies and digital assets. Uphold's enterprise customers can integrate these capabilities into their own branded digital environments, ensuring a familiar interface for end users.

Simon McLoughlin, CEO of Uphold, highlighted the broader trend of tokenization: "Tokenized Real World Assets (RWAs) open up new ways for investors to trade a range of asset classes. It's the rebuilding of financial markets on blockchain rails, with all the benefits that entails in terms of speed, convenience, transparency, access and consumer choice." He added that Uphold anticipates all traditional asset classes will be tokenized within the next five years.

LiquidAcre is currently developing the legal, regulatory, and technology framework for its marketplace phase, with digital securities and tokenization services expected to be provided through regulated third-party alliances. The company also plans to create new opportunities for property developers and asset managers by supporting more efficient digital structures for offerings tied to property income, long-term development projects, and asset appreciation.

Watkins noted that Uphold's ability to get the trading platform live in weeks, rather than years, was a key driver for the selection. He also praised Uphold's focus on helping LiquidAcre fulfill compliance requirements.

Uphold, which serves millions of customers in more than 140 countries, is regulated in the U.S. by FinCen and state regulators, and is registered in the UK with the FCA and in Europe with the Bank of Portugal. The company is known for its radical transparency, publishing its assets and liabilities every 30 seconds on its public website.

As the ecosystem develops, LiquidAcre aims to make participation in real-world assets more accessible, transparent, and intuitive while maintaining a strong focus on compliance and investor protection.
