Circle Internet Group has seen its stock decline sharply over recent months, with shares closing last week at $82.22, a 42% drop from the year-to-date high of $103. The decline reflects a combination of headwinds, including a reduction in USDC supply, a slowdown in its Arc blockchain's growth, and easing US bond yields.

USDC Supply Decline Pressures Circle

Data from CoinMarketCap indicates that the market capitalization of USDC has fallen to $72.4 billion, down from $76 billion in September and below the year-to-date peak of $80 billion. This contraction is significant for Circle because its business model relies heavily on the supply of USDC. The company invests the majority of its USDC reserves in short-term government bonds, generating returns that are directly tied to prevailing yields.

US bond yields have reversed their upward trend in recent days, with the three-month yield dropping to 4.17% from a monthly high of 4.2%. While analysts had expected yields to continue rising, the current decline suggests that Circle's investment income may be more modest than previously anticipated.

According to Yahoo Finance, analysts project Circle's third-quarter revenue to reach $785 million, a 6.25% increase year-over-year. For the full year, revenue is expected to be $3.02 billion, up 9.8% from the prior year. These figures indicate a relatively slow growth trajectory, which may be weighing on investor sentiment.

Arc Blockchain Growth Stalls

Circle's recently launched Arc layer-1 blockchain has also encountered challenges. DeFi Llama data shows that the total value locked (TVL) on Arc has slipped to $525 million from its all-time high of $566 million. The leading decentralized applications on the protocol include Morpho Blue, Aave V4, Galaxy Curation, and Keyrock.

Arc's stablecoin supply has also failed to grow as quickly as initially expected, currently standing at $666 million, with USDC holding the largest share. This growth pace is notably slower than that of Robinhood Chain, which has emerged as one of the fastest-growing blockchain networks in the crypto industry.

Additionally, Circle is affected by the broader crypto market downturn, as Bitcoin has fallen to around $80,000 and demand for many altcoins has weakened. This environment could further dampen the adoption of USDC and Arc.

Technical Outlook for CRCL Stock

From a technical perspective, CRCL stock has dropped below its 50-day moving average and the pivot reverse level of the Murrey Math Lines tool. However, the daily chart reveals a bullish flag pattern, characterized by a vertical decline followed by a descending channel. This pattern suggests the possibility of a rebound, potentially targeting the psychological level of $100. A breakout above that level could lead to further gains toward the extreme overshoot level of $112.

Conversely, a drop below the Major S/R pivot point of $75 would invalidate the bullish outlook and could signal additional downside. Investors are closely monitoring these levels as they assess the company's near-term prospects.
