Cardano's ADA token slipped below the $0.25 mark on Monday, pausing after a robust 11% weekly advance. The digital asset was trading near $0.245, reflecting a consolidation phase as market participants digest recent gains.

Despite the pullback, ADA remains above several closely watched technical levels, including its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day exponential moving averages (EMAs). This suggests that buyers have retained much of their recent progress, though the path forward is clouded by mixed signals from derivatives traders.

Derivatives Data Points to Divergence

Data from CoinGlass shows Cardano's long-to-short ratio at 0.73 on Monday, near its lowest level in over a month. A reading below one indicates that short positions outnumber long positions, reflecting a cautious or bearish sentiment among some traders.

However, funding rates tell a different story. Cardano's funding rate turned positive on September 17 and stood at 0.0049% on Monday. Positive funding means long traders are paying shorts, typically signaling greater demand for leveraged long exposure.

These two indicators paint a picture of uncertainty. While some traders are positioning for a decline, others are willing to pay a premium to maintain long positions. This divergence is particularly notable after an 11% weekly rally, which often attracts both momentum followers and those expecting a pullback.

On-chain data from CryptoQuant adds to the ambiguity. Futures market indicators show large orders from whales, alongside sell-side dominance and signs of overheating following ADA's recent gains. While large orders can have an outsized impact, their presence alone does not dictate price direction. The sell-side and overheating readings suggest traders should monitor whether supply increases as ADA attempts to extend its rally.

Spot market data also flags overheating, while other indicators remain neutral. This mix gives the data a mildly cautious tilt without showing broad agreement across all metrics.

Technical Levels in Focus

From a technical perspective, Cardano's position remains constructive. At $0.2452, ADA is above its 50-day EMA at $0.215, 100-day EMA at $0.209, and 200-day EMA at $0.239. It also holds above horizontal support at $0.236.

Momentum indicators still favor buyers. The relative strength index (RSI) is near 60, and the moving average convergence divergence (MACD) line remains positive. Both readings suggest the rally retains momentum, though they offer no guarantee against further pullback.

If ADA continues to decline, the 200-day EMA near $0.239 is the first major support to watch, followed by horizontal support at $0.236. A break below both would shift attention to the 50-day EMA at $0.215 and the 100-day EMA at $0.209. Further support lies around $0.197 and, more distantly, $0.150.

On the upside, the next significant resistance level sits near $0.299. Reaching it would require ADA to resume its climb from Monday's consolidation.

For now, traders face a clear divide: the price chart remains positive, while positioning and on-chain data call for caution. The outcome may depend on whether fresh buying can absorb selling pressure around key support levels.
