Bitcoin's price has climbed roughly 2.3% over the past 24 hours to hover near $78,500, breaking above the $78,000 mark as a combination of softer U.S. employment data, renewed institutional inflows, and easing Treasury yields bolster demand for the leading cryptocurrency.

The latest catalyst came from ADP's private payrolls report, which showed U.S. employers added just 38,000 jobs in August—well below the expected 47,000 and the weakest reading in seven months. This has prompted traders to reassess the likelihood of another Federal Reserve rate hike. According to CME FedWatch, the probability of a 25-basis-point increase at the Fed's September 15-16 meeting has slipped to roughly 62%, down from over 67% a day earlier. Lower rate expectations typically reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like Bitcoin, and the price responded by moving from below $77,000 to above $78,000.

Flowra and KorDA to test gold-backed collateral for Solana validators
Flowra and KorDA have signed an MOU to explore using gold-backed KGLD as collateral to secure SOL for validator delegation, potentially linking real-world assets to blockchain infrastructure.

Friday's nonfarm payrolls report will be the next major test for the labor market. A second consecutive weak print could further shift expectations around the Fed's decision, potentially providing additional tailwinds for Bitcoin. Meanwhile, Treasury yields have retreated from recent highs, with the 10-year yield falling about four basis points to 4.74% and the two-year yield dropping six basis points to 4.32%. This easing in yields has helped stabilize risk assets globally.

Institutional flows have also turned positive. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $101.15 million in net inflows on September 2, reversing the prior session's $236.5 million in net outflows. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for the bulk of the inflows, contributing around $115.45 million. Notably, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP ETFs saw net outflows during the same period, making Bitcoin the primary beneficiary of institutional crypto fund flows that day.

Technical indicators suggest the breakout has solid footing. The Directional Movement Index shows the positive directional indicator at 33.69, comfortably above the negative reading of 11.68, while the ADX stands at 43.45—well above the 25 threshold that signals a strong trend. Chaikin Money Flow has climbed to 0.34, its highest positive reading in months, indicating that buying pressure is accompanying the price advance rather than being driven by momentum alone.

However, the $80,000 level remains a critical resistance point. A daily close above this psychological barrier could open the door to the May swing area around $81,500–$82,000. On the downside, support sits near $76,000–$76,400, which aligns with the estimated average cost basis of active Bitcoin investors, as noted by Bitfinex analysts. If Bitcoin fails to hold above $76,000, a deeper pullback could ensue.

On the 4-hour chart, Bitcoin has been consolidating between $76,000 and $80,000 after its rapid ascent from the $64,000 range. The nine-period Rate of Change has cooled to 1.38% from double-digit levels seen during the initial breakout, suggesting momentum is stabilizing rather than reversing. The Elder Ray Index remains positive at 83, indicating buyers are in control, though it is far below the spike seen when Bitcoin first broke above $70,000.

Liquidation heatmaps show a dense cluster of leveraged positions around $78,800–$79,000, with additional liquidity above $80,000. A move through $79,000 could trigger a cascade of liquidations that helps push price toward $80,000. Conversely, a large liquidity pool sits around $76,400–$76,800, which could act as a magnet if selling pressure intensifies.

In a related development, Standard Chartered launched institutional spot Bitcoin and Ether trading in the UAE on September 3, becoming the first global systemically important bank to offer such services in the country. This move extends institutional access to Bitcoin through traditional banking infrastructure, potentially broadening the investor base.

As Bitcoin approaches the $80,000 threshold, the upcoming jobs report and ETF flow data will be key to determining whether the breakout can extend toward $82,000 or if a pullback to $76,000 is in store. For now, the technical picture remains constructive, but traders should watch for a decisive close above $80,000 to confirm the next leg higher.
