Zcash (ZEC) has defied the broader cryptocurrency downturn, climbing roughly 16% over the past 24 hours to reach $1,380. The move comes as Bitcoin briefly slipped below $75,700 before recovering to $76,500, while Ethereum held above $2,440. The privacy-focused token's resilience stands out amid a market pressured by the failed Senate vote on the CLARITY Act and the Federal Reserve's latest interest rate hike.
ZEC has now gained approximately 138% since the start of 2026, making it one of the best-performing large-cap cryptocurrencies. It has also overtaken Hyperliquid's HYPE token by market capitalization, as HYPE fell nearly 6.5% over the past week. The latest advance was accompanied by a 14% increase in trading volume, suggesting stronger market participation.
Privacy features and network upgrades support demand
Zcash's privacy technology appears to be a key driver of demand. According to ZecHub, shielded transactions accounted for 47% of all network activity last week. These transactions hide sender, recipient, and amount details, reinforcing the token's core use case. The high share of shielded activity indicates that users are actively leveraging the privacy functionality.
The network has also completed its migration to the Ironwood vault, a transition that may help restore confidence in the project's development and security. In addition, Zcash holders overwhelmingly supported proposals for the upcoming NU7 upgrade, which would reduce block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds while maintaining the Bitcoin-inspired halving schedule. Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated in the coin-weighted poll, out of roughly 3.6 million eligible.
Zcash Labs has also committed $80,000 to integrate the Ironwood pool into Ledger devices, enabling holders to self-custody their ZEC tokens. This move could further strengthen the ecosystem's infrastructure.
Technical outlook: breakout targets $1,750
On the daily chart, Zcash has formed a bullish pattern following its rally toward $1,400. A similar structure appeared after the token first reached $900, leading to a breakout and a new local peak. A confirmed move above $1,300 has now placed the next technical target near $1,750. The longer-term bullish target remains around $2,500, based on a recently completed breakout from an ascending-triangle pattern.
However, these projections should be treated as technical scenarios rather than guaranteed outcomes. ZEC's ability to reach these levels will depend on broader market conditions, continued adoption of its privacy features, and demand following its rapid year-to-date appreciation. The Federal Reserve's 25-basis-point rate hike to 3.75%–4% has removed pre-decision uncertainty, and Zcash's resilience in a tighter policy environment will be central to the bullish thesis.
Social metrics show a warning sign
Despite the price strength, social-media metrics have weakened. Online mentions of Zcash have declined, and the seven-day moving average appears to be crossing below the 30-day average. Such a bearish crossover can signal fading public attention and speculative interest. The latest rally could reverse that trend by attracting new discussion, but continued weakness in social engagement would create a divergence from the rising price.
For investors tracking the privacy token, the key levels to watch are $1,300 as support and $1,750 as the next resistance. A break above that could open the door to the $2,500 target, but a failure to hold support might invite a pullback. As always, market conditions remain volatile, and technical patterns are not guarantees.
