XRP continues to face downward pressure on Thursday, with the token hovering around $1.34 as buyers struggle to sustain recent recovery attempts. The cryptocurrency remains below a cluster of key moving averages, and mixed derivatives positioning points to a cautious market sentiment.

Data from CoinGlass shows XRP's long-to-short ratio at 0.86, nearing its lowest level in over a month. A ratio below one indicates a greater share of short positions among measured accounts, reflecting a bearish tilt. This suggests that sellers are increasingly dominating the market, outweighing bullish bets.

Bitcoin's $1B ETF Inflows Fail to Break $84K Resistance: What's Holding It Back?
Despite $1 billion in ETF inflows, Bitcoin struggles to break $84K resistance. Technical indicators show waning bullish momentum, with support at $79,676.

However, funding rates present a contrasting picture. XRP's funding rate turned positive on Monday and reached 0.0064% by Thursday. Positive funding means traders holding long perpetual futures positions are paying those holding shorts, indicating continued demand for bullish exposure even as the long-to-short ratio leans bearish. This divergence leaves positioning mixed, offering limited confirmation that a sustained recovery is underway.

CryptoQuant's market summary also highlights conditions that could constrain a rebound. For XRP, the analytics firm identified large whale orders and heating conditions across spot and futures markets, alongside sell-side dominance in futures trading. While large orders alone do not establish market direction, their presence alongside stronger selling activity adds to the cautious outlook. These readings suggest buyers have yet to gain clear control of trading activity.

Technical Outlook: Resistance at $1.375, Support at $1.337

XRP's daily and 4-hour charts retain a bearish near-term bias, with the price holding below the 200-day Exponential Moving Average at $1.374 and the 50-day EMA at $1.375. These closely aligned averages form the first resistance zone that buyers need to reclaim to improve the technical picture.

Technical momentum remains soft. The Relative Strength Index sits near 44, below the neutral 50 level, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence remains marginally negative. A sustained move above $1.374–$1.375 would ease immediate pressure and bring the horizontal resistance at $1.540 into focus. The more distant barrier near $1.900 would become relevant if a broader recovery develops.

On the downside, XRP continues to hold above its 100-day EMA at $1.337, providing an initial cushion beneath the current price. A break below that average would shift attention toward the $1.300 horizontal support. A daily close beneath $1.300 would weaken the stabilization attempt and increase the risk of further losses towards the swing low of $1.25.

For now, XRP remains caught between nearby support and tightly grouped resistance. The mixed derivatives readings offer similarly limited evidence of a decisive turnaround, leaving traders to weigh the conflicting signals as they assess the token's next move.
