XDC Network has named Concordium as the sole identity verification provider for XDC AI, its marketplace where autonomous software agents transact and pay for services. The arrangement gives AI agents a publicly checkable onchain badge confirming that a verified person or company stands behind them, while the owner's personal details remain offchain.

XDC AI went live in July 2026, equipping AI agents with non-custodial wallets so they can find and pay for services in USDC through the x402 payment standard. Concordium's role is to add an accountability layer for situations where agents move money or act on behalf of a business.

How the verification process works

Owners begin by completing a check inside the Concordium Wallet, submitting a passport and passing a liveness test run by an independent identity provider. They then connect their XDC wallet using two signatures that do not move funds, and register the agent. Concordium issues a badge that anyone can verify, but the underlying personal information is not published onchain.

According to Concordium, unmasking an owner would require a court order plus coordinated action from independent Privacy Guardians. That structure is intended to balance accountability with privacy for businesses that do not want their agent operations tied publicly to their identities.

Why identity matters for agent payments

Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki, chief executive of Concordium, framed the gap the integration targets: payment capability alone does not establish who is responsible when an agent acts. In his view, XDC has built the transaction rails, while Concordium supplies the assurance that a verified counterparty exists behind each agent it verifies.

He added that the relevant question is not which blockchain an agent runs on but who answers for it, arguing that this kind of assurance is what institutions need before granting agents real authority. Concordium already handles agent verification on Ethereum and Solana, and XDC marks its first full-network integration, with more networks expected to follow.

Technical and commercial terms

Agents keep their existing wallets, code and operations on XDC; Concordium only supplies the verification layer. The partnership carries a revenue-sharing arrangement for each agent verification, and every verified agent also results in a Concordium account being tied to a verified owner.

Network fees are sponsored, so developers do not need to hold CCD tokens to use the service. Verification is available at xdcai.tech/agent-verification, with developer documentation at docs.xdcai.tech/wallet/agent-verification.

The move reflects a broader push across the digital asset industry to attach identity and liability to autonomous agents as they take on more financial tasks. Whether such verification frameworks become standard across chains remains an open question, but the XDC-Concordium deal gives one network a working model for pairing agent payments with accountable ownership.
