Securitize stock has experienced a remarkable rally this month, climbing 180% to $14.87, fueled by a combination of catalysts including the broader cryptocurrency market upswing, optimistic analyst assessments, and a recent regulatory change by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Analyst optimism builds

Cantor Fitzgerald initiated coverage with an overweight rating and a price target of $21, implying a further 47% upside from current levels. Analyst Gareth Gacetta highlighted the company's position to benefit from the growing real-world asset (RWA) tokenization industry, noting Securitize's partnership with Cantor to enable onchain IPOs.

Meta stock gained more than 4% Monday after the company unveiled two new AI models designed for multi-step tasks, with analysts staying bullish before Q3 earnings.

Other analysts have also turned bullish. Rosenblatt's Chris Brendler maintained a buy rating and raised his target from $11 to $13. StonX's Mark Palmer set a target of $12, while Needham's John Todaro initiated with a buy rating and an $11 target.

SEC exemption and RWA growth

The SEC recently granted an innovation exemption to facilitate trading of tokenized stocks, a significant development for Securitize, which is a major player in the RWA space. The company has partnerships with Hamilton Lane, BNY, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, VanEck, and Apollo, all of which have launched tokenized assets on its platform.

According to DeFi Llama, Securitize holds over $4.31 billion in total value locked (TVL), with major assets including BlackRock's BUIDL and Blockchain Capital's BCAP. Industry forecasts are optimistic, with Standard Chartered projecting tokenization could reach $30 trillion by 2034, while Citi and McKinsey estimate $5.5 trillion and $2 trillion by 2030, respectively.

Headwinds and risks

Despite its market position, Securitize faces significant challenges. Competition is intensifying from platforms like Robinhood and Coinbase, which have introduced their own tokenized assets. Revenue growth has been under pressure, with a 5% decline to $14.4 million and a net loss of $21.7 million in the latest reported quarter. Analysts expect third-quarter revenue of $17.6 million and full-year revenue of $72.25 million, but profitability remains distant.

Valuation concerns also loom. The company's market capitalization exceeds $2.43 billion, which is about 55% of its total value locked, raising questions about whether the stock is overvalued relative to its current financial performance.

Technical outlook

From a technical perspective, SECZ stock had traded in a narrow range between $10.3 and $13.8 for months before breaking down to a low of $5.14 in August. The recent rally has pushed the stock above the key resistance level of $13.82, following Cantor Fitzgerald's bullish outlook. The stock now trades above the Major S/R pivot point on the Murrey Math Lines tool.

Technicians suggest the stock could continue rising toward the Ultimate Resistance level of $18.75. However, a drop below the support level of $12.5 would invalidate the bullish thesis.
