Paybis, a global cryptocurrency exchange and payment infrastructure provider, has introduced four local payment methods for European customers, allowing them to buy digital assets using familiar banking tools. The new options—iDEAL in the Netherlands, BLIK in Poland, Multibanco in Portugal, and EPS in Austria—are now live, marking the first wave of a broader expansion that will eventually bring 13 additional local payment methods to the platform.
These methods are widely used in their respective markets. BLIK, operated by Polish Payment Standard, had 21.6 million active users in Poland as of June 2026. iDEAL processed over 1.5 billion transactions in 2025 and accounted for 71% of online purchases in the Netherlands, according to the Dutch Payments Association. Multibanco operates a network of approximately 13,000 machines across Portugal, while EPS is accepted by more than 11,000 online retailers in Austria.
Customers can now choose these payment options at checkout, confirming transactions through their banking apps or, in the case of Multibanco, by paying a reference at an ATM or within a banking app. No card details are required, and the purchased cryptocurrencies are delivered directly to the user's Paybis Wallet or an external wallet address. The platform supports over 90 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and USDC.
Each method has its own transaction limits: iDEAL allows up to EUR 50,000 per payment, BLIK up to PLN 50,000, Multibanco up to EUR 5,000, and EPS up to EUR 10,000. These limits are designed to accommodate both retail and larger transactions, reflecting the scale at which these payment systems operate in their home countries.
Innokenty Isers, CEO and Founder of Paybis, emphasized the importance of local payment preferences. "Europe does not pay one way. A customer in Amsterdam reaches for iDEAL, a customer in Warsaw reaches for BLIK, and neither should need a card to buy crypto," he said. "Now customers in the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Austria can pay the way they already pay for everything else online."
The company plans to roll out additional local methods in subsequent waves. Bancontact, KBC/CBC Bank, and Belfius Pay in Belgium, along with Bancomat Pay in Italy, are scheduled for the next phase. Swish, Przelewy24, Vipps, and MobilePay will follow, bringing the total number of supported payment methods to more than 30 once fully implemented.
Paybis, established in 2014, processes over $6 billion annually and serves 7 million users. The company was recognized as Best Crypto Payment Provider in 2026, highlighting its global reach and rapid onboarding capabilities. This expansion into local payment methods is part of its strategy to reduce friction in crypto acquisition, particularly in markets where card usage is less dominant.
The move aligns with broader trends in European digital finance, where local payment solutions often outperform international card networks. By integrating these methods, Paybis aims to attract users who prefer to transact in their native banking environments, potentially increasing crypto adoption across the region.
