MEXC, a digital asset exchange known for its zero-fee trading model, has released its August trading metrics, highlighting notable growth across both emerging crypto tokens and traditional finance (TradFi) linked assets. The platform reported a 21% month-over-month increase in the number of users trading new tokens, while tokenized stock trading volume surged 31% during the same period.

New-token trading momentum

In the new-token segment, the rise in active traders was accompanied by impressive returns for early movers. The top 10 tokens by peak gain averaged a 3,358% increase, up 145% from the previous month. The leading performer, Niu Lai (Bull Comes), posted a staggering peak gain of 14,143%. Notably, five of these top gainers also ranked among the top 10 by spot trading volume, collectively contributing 65% of the volume among the top 10 new tokens.

Memecoins continued to dominate trading activity, accounting for 55% of the volume among the top 10 new tokens by volume. However, utility-focused projects in artificial intelligence (AI), real-world assets (RWA), decentralized finance (DeFi), and cross-chain infrastructure also attracted significant interest, making up the remaining 45%.

Tokenized stocks and TradFi expansion

Beyond crypto-native assets, MEXC saw a marked expansion in TradFi-linked trading. Tokenized stock trading volume climbed 31% month-over-month, becoming the primary driver of growth in the TradFi spot segment. Tokenized stocks such as CRCL, NBIS, and SPCX were among the top 10 assets by trading volume. Gold-related assets also remained active, with PAXG (GOLD) trading volume rising 43% and ranking first in the TradFi spot category.

In the derivatives market, precious metals futures showed a clear divergence. Overall trading volume in this category increased 32% month-over-month, maintaining precious metals as the largest asset class in TradFi futures. XAU volume grew 57% and SILVER rose 39%, while XAUT declined 10%, indicating that growth was concentrated in specific instruments rather than spread across the entire category.

Platform engagement and campaigns

To support the growing demand, MEXC launched three flagship campaigns in August, each with a prize pool of 1 million USDT, focusing on TradFi, xStocks, and the MOVE ecosystem. The "TradFi Million-Dollar Gala" attracted over 174,000 registrations and generated an average daily trading volume of 4.2 billion USDT. The xStocks campaign featured tokenized stocks including NVDAX, CRCLX, and TSLAX, further bridging the gap between crypto and traditional markets.

MEXC CEO Vugar Usi commented on the platform's cross-asset strategy: "Whether users are looking at early-stage tokens, stocks, or precious metals, they want fast and convenient access when new trading opportunities emerge. MEXC will continue expanding its cross-asset coverage, reducing unnecessary friction between markets, and giving users more flexibility to trade different asset classes on a single platform."

The August data reflects a broader trend of convergence between crypto and traditional finance, as investors seek diversified exposure. For context, similar developments are occurring across the industry, such as the rise of GPU compute perpetuals and the growing interest in AI tokens. Additionally, the tokenization of real-world assets continues to gain traction, with Goldfish token backing being a recent example.

As trading volumes expand across both crypto and traditional markets, MEXC's focus on zero-fee access and broad asset coverage positions it to capture further growth. The platform serves users in over 170 markets, offering a single gateway to crypto, stocks, tokenized assets, and derivatives.
