MEXC, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange known for its zero-fee trading model, has announced a significant upgrade to its RealStocks product. The update introduces three new features designed to streamline access to US equities and support long-term investment strategies.
RealStocks is a cross-market trading solution offered by MEXC in partnership with regulated brokerage firms. It allows eligible users to buy and hold actual shares of more than 7,000 US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) directly through the MEXC platform.
New features enhance trading experience
The first major addition is the Real-World Assets (RWA) feature, which brings the trading experience closer to that of a traditional US brokerage. Users can now access real shares with applicable shareholder rights, where available, rather than derivative products.
Another feature addresses funding efficiency. Previously, users had to pre-fund their RealStocks account before placing an order. Now, if the RealStocks account lacks sufficient funds, users can transfer available assets directly from their Spot account during the order process. This eliminates the need for separate funding steps and simplifies the trading workflow.
The third feature introduces recurring investments for stocks. Users can set a fixed amount and choose an investment frequency—such as weekly or monthly—to automatically purchase selected stocks. This automation reduces the need for manual order placement and encourages a consistent, disciplined approach to long-term investing.
Broader access to US equities
The upgrade is part of MEXC's broader strategy to offer multiple avenues for accessing US equities. In addition to RealStocks, the platform provides tokenized stocks, stock futures, and pre-IPO opportunities through its Launchpad. This multi-pronged approach caters to different investor preferences and risk appetites.
MEXC continues to emphasize its commitment to low-cost trading. In July, the exchange offered zero-fee trading across 995 trading pairs, helping users save a total of $112 million in trading fees. The ongoing MEXC 0808: Stock Season event extends zero-fee trading to RealStocks, tokenized stocks, and stock futures, with a $500,000 prize pool.
Looking ahead, MEXC plans to further enhance its product offerings, aiming to lower barriers to global market participation. The exchange's user base has grown to over 40 million across 170+ markets, reflecting its position as a leading platform for digital asset and tokenized trading.
For investors interested in the broader trend of tokenized assets, recent developments such as Bitget's rToken trading volume surge highlight the growing maturity of this market. Additionally, MEXC's expansion into traditional equities aligns with the increasing convergence of crypto and conventional finance.
While MEXC's zero-fee model is attractive, investors should consider the risks associated with cross-border trading and the regulatory environment. The platform's partnership with regulated brokers aims to mitigate some of these concerns, but due diligence remains essential.
