MEXC, a cryptocurrency exchange known for its zero-fee trading model, has announced the addition of another 1,000 Bitcoin to its Guardian Fund. This marks the second major BTC allocation to the fund this year, following an initial 1,000 BTC contribution in May. The fund now holds 100 million USDT and 2,000 BTC, according to the exchange.

The latest allocation is part of MEXC's broader commitment, announced in May, to expand the Guardian Fund from $100 million to $500 million over two years. The exchange stated that this expansion is intended to keep pace with changing market conditions, security risks, and the evolving needs of user protection.

Strategy's Smallest 2026 Bitcoin Buy: 250 BTC at $86,194 as MSTR Slips
Strategy bought only 250 BTC last week, its smallest purchase of 2026, at an average of $86,194 per coin. MSTR slipped as Bitcoin traded near $82,788.

The move comes amid a series of security incidents across the cryptocurrency industry, which have highlighted the dynamic nature of threats facing digital asset platforms. MEXC emphasized that security threats are not static, and that user protection requires ongoing investment in capital reserves, technology, and risk-management infrastructure.

In May, MEXC established Bitcoin as a long-term reserve component of the Guardian Fund, alongside liquid USDT reserves. The latest addition represents the next stage of that strategy, reflecting the exchange's approach to treating user protection as a continuously reinforced system rather than a one-time reserve.

MEXC has made its Guardian Fund holdings publicly traceable on-chain through disclosed wallet addresses, allowing users to independently verify the reserves. The additional BTC strengthens the fund as MEXC continues working toward its $500 million target while investing in security, transparency, and risk-management infrastructure.

Vugar Usi, CEO of MEXC, commented: "Security and user protection is not a one-time investment. It is a continuous commitment. The risks facing digital asset platforms continue to evolve, and the resources behind user protection need to evolve with them. Adding another 1,000 BTC to the Guardian Fund reflects our long-term approach to building stronger protection for users and ensuring that the infrastructure behind that protection continues to grow with MEXC."

MEXC, founded in 2018, serves users across more than 170 markets, offering access to crypto, stocks, tokenized assets, derivatives, and other TradFi-linked opportunities. The exchange positions itself as a gateway for retail users seeking low-barrier access to a wide range of assets.

The Guardian Fund's expansion is part of a broader industry trend where exchanges are bolstering their reserves to reassure users amid ongoing security concerns. While MEXC's fund remains smaller than some competitors, the on-chain transparency and the commitment to a $500 million target signal a focus on long-term user protection.
