Fastly Inc. shares surged to $31.30 this week, the highest level since May 6, as investors welcomed the company's new AI-focused security products and its latest investor presentation. The stock has climbed more than 88% from its July low, raising questions about whether the momentum can continue given the gap between the current price and analyst expectations.

AI product launch fuels optimism

Fastly, a content delivery network (CDN) provider serving major clients like The New York Times, Stripe, The Guardian, and GitHub, introduced an AI firewall and AI runtime control. These tools are designed to help enterprises secure and scale AI applications, govern model access, and control how AI agents interact with APIs. The AI runtime control routes model calls through a single endpoint, while the AI firewall enforces security policies across agentic and conventional traffic.

Morgan Stanley reiterated its $300 price target on SpaceX, implying 85% upside, as Starship reusability and Starlink V3 deployments could transform launch economics.

The company's second-quarter results showed continued growth, with revenue rising 23% year-over-year to $183 million, driven by network services. Remaining performance obligations (RPO) increased 38% to $341 million, indicating strong future demand. Analysts project annual revenue of $740 million this year, up 19%, and $846 million next year, with earnings per share expected to reach 53 cents in 2026 and 63 cents in 2027.

Analyst targets lag the rally

Despite the positive fundamentals, the stock's rapid ascent has outpaced Wall Street's price targets. According to Kyro data, the average analyst target is $19.45, roughly 31% below the current price. RBC Capital has a target of $28, while other firms like Piper Sandler, KeyBanc, Canaccord Genuity, and Citigroup have similarly conservative estimates. This discrepancy suggests that the market may be pricing in more upside than analysts currently foresee.

Technical outlook points higher

From a technical perspective, FSLY has rebounded from a double-bottom pattern at $15.70 and is now trading above the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level. The stock has also moved above the 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages, signaling bullish momentum. It is currently testing a key resistance zone around $30, which aligns with August's high. A breakout above this level could open the door to $34.77, the April peak.

However, the wide gap between the stock price and analyst targets highlights the risk of a pullback. Investors should monitor whether the company can sustain its growth trajectory and justify the elevated valuation. The AI product launch provides a catalyst, but the market's enthusiasm may be running ahead of fundamentals.
