US-listed Ethereum exchange-traded funds experienced net outflows of $320.1 million during the week of October 12–16, 2026, according to data from SoSoValue. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust accounted for $299 million of these withdrawals, representing approximately 93% of the weekly total. This significant redemption activity suggests weaker demand through these investment vehicles, adding pressure to near-term sentiment.

However, ETF flows alone do not fully capture the liquidity dynamics across the broader Ethereum market. Despite the substantial outflows, technical indicators show that buyers have maintained control above several short-term trend lines, preventing a sharp price decline.

Ethereum's Technical Position

On the hourly chart, ETH is trading above its 20-period and 50-period moving averages, and it remains above its daily 200-period moving average, providing longer-term support. However, the cryptocurrency is still below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, indicating that the recent recovery has not fully reversed the broader weakness.

The $2,380–$2,383 area remains a critical short-term support reference, while resistance is seen near $2,479. Holding above support would strengthen the consolidation outlook, although a decisive breakout has yet to emerge.

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator supports positive momentum, while Bull/Bear Power readings point to buyer strength. The Average Directional Index (ADX) stands near 25, indicating moderate trend strength rather than a firmly established directional move. ADX does not independently establish whether buyers or sellers are in control.

Momentum Indicators Show Mixed Signals

Hourly momentum indicators show buyers regaining some control, although the daily chart paints a weaker picture. The daily RSI remains below 50 and MACD stays negative, suggesting that the short-term recovery has yet to reverse the broader corrective trend.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 62.62 on the one-hour timeframe, indicating positive momentum while remaining below the conventional overbought threshold of 70. The Stochastic RSI indicates overbought conditions, while the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) remains positive but below its conventional overbought threshold.

This combination suggests stronger short-term momentum without confirming that all indicators are stretched, leaving room for consolidation as buyers digest recent gains. Overbought readings can signal stretched short-term conditions, but they do not automatically imply an approaching reversal.

Key Trading Range and Outlook

The ETH/USD daily chart shows that Ethereum could consolidate between $2,380 and $2,479 over the next few trading sessions. A sustained breakout above the upper boundary would favor a stronger recovery, while a close below the $2,383 support level would weaken the immediate bullish setup.

Currently, the one-hour and four-hour timeframes are bullish, with buyers looking to push ETH past the key resistance level. However, unless the daily candle closes above $2,400, Ethereum could revisit the weekend low in the near term.

Ethereum's near-term position reflects competing signals: persistent ETF withdrawals on one side and relatively firm technical momentum on the other. Closing the daily candle above the $2,380–$2,383 area would preserve the consolidation scenario. Losing it would increase the risk of renewed weakness, particularly if leveraged positions amplify market moves.

For buyers, a sustained break above $2,479 would provide clearer evidence that the market is moving beyond consolidation despite subdued ETF demand.
