BNB is holding near $775 on Wednesday, little changed from the previous day, as traders weigh the potential impact of the $351.6 million Bitget hot wallet breach. The token remains below its recent $800 high, and the incident has added a fresh layer of uncertainty to the supply outlook.
Bitget detected unauthorized transfers from some of its hot wallets at 18:31 UTC on Sept. 24. The exchange said the breach was limited to parts of its hot and warm wallet infrastructure, while cold wallets remained secure. User losses are covered by its $464 million protection fund, according to the exchange.
BNB had already begun to retreat from its Sept. 22 peak above $800 before the hack. It slipped below $760 on Sept. 24, then recovered toward $780, where buyers have struggled to push higher. The token is up roughly 2.5% over the past seven days.
The main concern for traders is whether the attacker will move stolen BNB onto exchanges or decentralized markets, which could increase available supply while the token trades below $800. On-chain data shows the attacker has already conducted swaps, and market participants are monitoring for further transfers.
Despite the hack, BNB Chain's fundamentals remain intact. Total value locked on the network reached about $5.8 billion in the week ending Sept. 6, and decentralized exchange volume rose to $9.21 billion. The network has been running the Pasteur upgrade since Aug. 25, which has improved block production efficiency.
Tokenized real-world assets are also expanding on BNB Chain. OpenEden brought its TBILL and HYBOND products to the network on Sept. 17, and the value of real-world assets on the chain has grown from $509.72 million in September 2025 to roughly $5.69 billion this month, according to RWA.xyz data cited by OpenEden.
For U.S. investors, VanEck's BNB ETF has provided regulated exposure since May. The fund held 3,496 BNB and had $2.5 million in net assets as of Sept. 10, a relatively small position compared to BNB's overall market cap.
Technical levels to watch
BNB's daily chart shows the token trading above its key moving averages, with the 20-day exponential moving average at $748.77, the 50-day at $704.85, and the 100-day and 200-day at $670.55 and $669.58, respectively. The 20-day EMA has become the closest dynamic support.
A daily close below $748 would put the recent breakout structure under pressure and could expose the next support around $720. If selling continues, the 50-day EMA near $705 would be the next target. The Chaikin Money Flow has weakened from above 0.20 earlier in September to around zero, indicating that buying pressure has faded.
On the 4-hour chart, the Directional Movement Index shows +DI at 20.52 and -DI at 18.76, leaving buyers with only a slight edge. The ADX has dropped to 18.75, below the 20 threshold that signals weak trend strength, consistent with the sideways movement between $760 and $800.
For the downside to gain traction, -DI would need to cross above +DI while ADX rises back through 20. A break below $760 would then expose the 20-day EMA around $749, followed by $720 and $705. On the upside, resistance sits at $780 to $800. A sustained move above $800 would clear the September high and open the path toward $840, a level last seen before February's selloff.
