Bitget is entering its ninth year with a renewed focus on its Universal Exchange (UEX) strategy, which now spans crypto, traditional financial markets, and institutional trading. The Seychelles-based platform reported that non-crypto assets accounted for as much as 40% of its total trading volume over the past year, signaling a significant shift toward multi-asset offerings.
At its peak, trading in traditional finance perpetual contracts and contracts for difference (CFDs) surpassed $10 billion in daily volume. This milestone underscores the growing demand for cross-asset exposure among retail and institutional traders alike.
Expanding beyond crypto
Over the last 12 months, Bitget launched stock perpetual contracts, US stock options, and Hong Kong stock Quanto contracts as part of its push into traditional markets. The company also highlighted that its rToken product exceeded $100 million in assets under management within five weeks and has since recorded more than 3 million cumulative transactions. Notably, one in four new users now begins their trading journey with rToken.
Artificial intelligence is also playing a larger role. Bitget's AI Playbook, described as an autonomous trading agent, aims to enhance the trading experience. CEO Gracy Chen noted, "Crypto and traditional markets are converging, AI is changing the trading experience, and institutional participation is accelerating. UEX is our bet on where all of that is heading, and the next chapter for Bitget will be much bigger than crypto alone."
Security and institutional focus
As part of its eighth-anniversary initiatives, Bitget plans to expand its Proof of Reserves coverage from four to 24 verifiable assets. The company's Protection Fund had an average valuation of approximately $382 million in August 2026, reflecting its commitment to user asset safety.
Institutional trading remains a priority. As of the second quarter of 2026, institutional client net assets had increased 45% from the end of 2025. The number of core active market makers also grew from 90 to 248 firms. Bitget said it will continue to strengthen execution quality, API and quantitative trading infrastructure, institutional services, and cross-asset account capabilities.
Looking ahead
Bitget's eighth-anniversary celebrations include KCGI 2026, featuring a 3 million USDT prize pool, along with VIP programmes, community activities, and offline events across multiple regions. The company's focus for the next stage remains on improving the trading experience while expanding access to a broader range of markets.
Currently, Bitget serves more than 125 million users and offers access to over 2 million crypto tokens, alongside tokenised stocks, ETFs, commodities, foreign exchange, and precious metals including gold. The company's recent moves, such as launching GPU compute perpetuals and raising its institutional API ceiling, highlight its commitment to innovation and institutional-grade infrastructure.
As Bitget enters its ninth year, UEX is positioned as the central pillar of its strategy to unify crypto and traditional markets on a single platform. The company's Protection Fund performance and expanding asset coverage suggest a focus on trust and security. With the convergence of asset classes and the rise of AI-driven trading, Bitget aims to capture a growing share of the multi-asset trading market.
